Sloan's March 2nd birthday started off with a bang with a book from Luvy.
Understanding Isaiah - doesn't get more exciting than that!
I urged he & Ruth to go for a walk after his book opening, and told them to be back in 20 mins because I had a surprise to get ready for him.
While they were out, about 15-20 of our friends came over for a surprise party. I texted him that I was ready for him to come home, and he said they were close. So we were crouched in ready position ...
for about 15 minutes!! They took their time on the last stretch. Which was painful for all of us in the crouched, ready position (hence my obnoxiously strained laugh)...
love these new friends of ours
Sarah's idea - spank train!
those are some pretty rosy cheeks dear
for his actual birthday, we went skiing in Breckenridge
It was Sloan's first time skiing in about 15 yrs
kind of a rough day
but there were pockets of "I could totally get in to this!" and plenty of good laughs (even a few of them mutual). And what beats the feeling of going into the lodge for lunch & hot chocolate. Or taking off your boots to let your feet thaw in the car at the end of the day? I'd take skiing over a day of work any day!
Ruth's birthday
Papa & Dodie came to visit!
breakfast the next morning at Snooze
my favorite bfast ever
Bike ride along the Platte river through downtown, ending up at the Aquarium
a welcome, new development - Ruth reading to Reggie before bed
Daily life - home with my quirky boys
Reggie is washing his 2X4
Luke in drag pushing Reggie around on a dolly
little fingers popping out of sinks
and post nap mom-call
Grandma to the rescue!
We were so lucky to have a few days with Gma & Gpa, visiting from Virginia. The boys & I took grandma to the zoo
Sloan & Ruth took grandpa to the slopes. This is Ruth's first day skiing, and grandpa's last :( His legs weren't as ski-worthy as his heart was. But we were all proud of him for giving it a shot!
Aquarium on day 3
Day 4 was Ruth's baptism. We were hosting a light dinner with soups & mac and cheese, so we spent most of the day in the kitchen.
Ruth's baptism

After changing and being confirmed by her dad, Ruth sang the baptism song...
Ruth's grandmas gave the talks: Vivien on baptism and Luvy on the Holy Ghost being a "comforter". Both did a lovely job.
her sweet friends came to support her
dinner in the courtyard
our new neighbors, the Rubenis's

Luke's a big hugger
and this guy's a ham
It was a touching to watch Ruth make this commitment to serving the Lord and taking His name upon her. She has a strong will- either to do right or to do things the hard way. I was grateful this decision was easy for her! She was beaming all day.
that's my girl!
Sunday evening ride through Park Hill
early Monday morning Sloan & I flew to Palm Springs for our annual Indian Wells trip
Nadal!
We love this tournament because of how intimate the courts, how beautiful the scenery and how often you get to see the top players
not to mention Uncle Jonah!!! He was there with his dad & most of his brothers. Not hard to spot him in a crowd these days!
end of day 1. We were exhausted. We had been up since 4:30am and in the hot sun all afternoon. But happy!
Andy Murray playing doubles
love watching these strong fiesty women duel it out
the Bryan brothers were a hoot!
end of day 2 - a little more rested & totally loving being there
back home for Garth Brooks with my mom & friends
...One of those concerts you're a little embarrassed to be so excited to be at! He played the old hits, so it took me right back to the late 90's, going on crazy adventures with my sister's friends and line dancing at church dances. I did tear up here & there (but come on, I'm pregnant).
back to park hopping with these guys

the noodle phone
Sunday morning getting pretty for stake conference

Monday morning joy school
So glad when daddy comes home
