August 2016 - part 2

After a quick re-visit with Tyler in Vegas, we were on the road for Utah.

August in Utah is not to be missed, especially when we get Clayne & Vivien all to ourselves!

While Sloan attended the LDS Dentists Conference at BYU, we enjoyed the afternoon at Thanksgiving Point.
First the Museum (free with our Denver Museum memberships!)

Lunch on the lawn

Farm Animals

feeling the horse's hot air on our ears

they seem mutually amused

back to Pine Lane

Then home to Denver

We had been out of town for 3 weeks, so the garden was out of control!

not sure whether to be embarrassed or proud of these zuch's

Hanging out with our ally neighbors

 Drew fascinated by the bubbles

and avoiding the pokie grass

Enjoying the last few days of summer...

at the pool

the empty school playgrounds

and the mall to get my water-damaged iPhone diagnosed. it would die soon :(

Reggie cheered me up in front of the MAC counter
Luke, you kill me

From there - Cafe' Rio! I love taking my kids there on Taco Tuesday because tostadas are half off and nino quesadillas free... I get a side of beans and rice (which they never charge me for) and 3 dressing cups to divvy up my salad & the r/b, and bam! Family fed for $4.95.

Reggie's dreams come alive here

August 19th we took Bailey and Samuel with us to the Fort Collins Temple Open House

Ruth and her new braceless smile

Beautiful smaller temple with Scandinavian-styled stained glass and simple, elegant furnishings. It was sweet to be there with the kids, despite their shenanigans

It was especially sweet to have Bailey along. He's a new convert and had lots of good questions

go Bailey!

and, we're done

back to Rio!

last adventure before school starts... Reggie's 6th Birthday Party

Groupon led us here to TIGAR gymnastics in Wheatridge

Fun to celebrate Reggie & see him so happy.

Wresting Drew in Sunday School (still no teeth!)

That night (the Sunday before school would start), we had a special Family Home Evening. Sloan did interviews with the kids that afternoon, we all wrote in our journals, then Ruth gave a lesson on the armor of God

nice modeling, Luke

which turned into chaos, as usual

We wrapped it up with a quick game of Pictionary and Sloan gave the kids Father's Blessings. My heart was so full of gratitude that day... for each of our children, the Priesthood, the scriptures, Sloan, and for a comfortable home & beds to sleep in
and a little extra gratitude for school starting the next day :)

Ruth's first day as a 4th grader

Luke's first day of preschool

Reggie wouldn't start for 2 more days, so he was jitter-free

he was clueless

Tuesday night - I took the kids to deliver a bassinet in Cherry Creek, which happened to be right by Cafe Rio!

Sorry bud, we were bored

squirrels raiding the sunflowers in the ally

Reggie's first day, and Luke's 2nd first day
A spot opened up for him at Stedman, so we dropped out of Hope Center and transferred him over. He was just fine to switch because he would now be in Bianca's class

Lunch that day with Sloan

Drew loves ears and Sloan's mouth

Luke was processing

That Friday, on Reggie's actual birthday, Luke had his first playdate at his new friend Beckett's house. While they were playing outside, somehow a bee got into his mouth and stung his lip!

I gave him Benedryl, which knocked him out, so he missed my sideswiping another car as I pulled up to get Reggie

earned me some racing stripes
We were stuck there almost 2 hours waiting for the police to come write a report. I got to know a couple teachers there, and of course the other parent I sideswiped. The boys were pretty bummed, but

we came home to a package from Papa & Dodie for Reggie's bday!

this was a hit

up early the next morning to get back to work

workin' on a big box of pears from Gpa & Gma

This is how Ruby's mom chews

Annual ward BBQ/Campfire in Golden

Love having the joy of gathering around the fire and singing camp songs without having to camp!

trying out the new trails by our house

really engaged

meanwhile, Sloan was hiking 14'rs

a well-deserved view!
