We had a great Thanksgiving thanks to Mom, Aja & Jonah & kids coming to town. The highlights were seeing Elsie & Ruthie play together (see Aja's blog), surviving the 10K, the turkey-on-the-run scavenger hunt, eating the delicious feast (Mom's stuffing, Aja's jello, Sloan's burlap sack turkey, costco's pumpkin pie), the freezing cold bbq on the roof with the Eyres and Tyler & Sarah, and visiting the Zoo Lights.
We also made a trip down to Tucson to visit my Dad's side of the family. We got to see Ruthie's great-great-grandma, Meme who was playing air hockey with her great-grandson when we got there (and beat him by 3 points!) and kept us laughing with her cute side-jokes all weekend. We also visited with Ruthie's great-grandma Nonie, Dad & Roxanne, Pam & Larry & their 3 boys, uncle Kevin, Aunt Tami, Earl and Samantha. My dad took us all to the Desert Museum where we saw a live, wild rattle snake roaming one of the sidewalks! And a wild coyote on the drive back to the house. The evening was spent playing a raucous 4-5 hrs of speed solitaire with the "grand marshall", telling us to "file a grevience" if we had a complaint (and "no cussing" "no hoovering" and the dreaded cowboy cards). It was a fun trip for us.
Back to Phoenix for the last 2 weeks of the semester for Sloan (and working & shadowing) and holiday planning & a little bit of work for me and continuous crawling, exploring of cupboards, wrestling with dad, going to the library, and jumping and learning for Ruthie. We're looking forward to the holidays and wish we could be spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Robison (and all the Robisons), but we know they are giving important service in Vienna and will come home to all of us soon.
